Silane Coupling Agents
Silane coupling agents are specialized chemicals designed to enhance the adhesion between organic and inorganic materials.

Hydrolyzable Alkoxy Groups (OR)

The general formula for a silane coupling agent is R′−Si(OR)3R'-Si(OR)_3R′−Si(OR)3. When the alkoxy groups hydrolyze in the presence of water, they form silanol groups. These silanol groups can then condense to create a siloxane network that bonds to inorganic substrates. Meanwhile, the organic functional group reacts with the organic material, ensuring a strong and durable bond.
